France Sport was a cycling brand from Toulouse.
The might be best known for sponsoring a professional team during the 1930s to 1950s, which was also competing in the Tour de France.
Being a rather small company, France sport concentrated on artisanal high class bikes rather than mass production.
A dedication which we can also see in our France Sport Randonneur bike from the 1970s.
The frame is a lugged construction for which Italian Columbus tubing has been used. An unusual choice for a French bike, but a good one nonetheless.
Front fork and rear fork ends have been chromed as well as the head lugs, adding a sportive and bright touch to the classic frame.
Otherwise the bike is designed as a fast touring bike, which has been popular among Randonneur riders to cover large distances with only small and lightweight luggage. That is also the reason why a front bag support rack and mudguards are the only accessoires on this bike which sets it apart from a full racing bike.
The components, including a Spidel Shifting, are of a quality that could easily be found on a racer.
A nice traditional light touring bike, good enough for daily use as well as L'Eroica or similar classic cycling events.
